James Madison at Oregon injury update: Initial availability report revealed for CFP first-round game

by: Alex Byington8 hours ago_AlexByington

The first weekend of the 2025 College Football Playoff will wrap up Saturday night in primetime between No. 12 James Madison at No. 5 Oregon, which kicks off at 7:30 pm ET inside Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore. The game will be simulcast on TNT, truTV and HBO Max.

The 24th-ranked Dukes (12-1) secured the Playoff’s fifth and final automatic bid as one of college football’s five highest-ranked conference champions after rolling over Troy, 31-14, on Dec. 5 to win the Sun Belt Conference. Meanwhile, the Ducks (11-1) earned the coveted No. 5 seed after failing to defend its 2024 Big Ten title due to a Week 7 loss to No. 1 Indiana (13-0), which won its first conference championship since 1967 by knocking off previously undefeated Ohio State in Indianapolis.

But before the first-round of the College Football Playoff begins this weekend, the CFP is releasing availability reports “to promote the integrity of competition, the wellbeing of student-athletes and institutional staff, and public transparency” beginning Tuesday.

This is the first season the CFP has implemented a policy requiring participating programs to accurately disclose player availability statuses to the public, via a standardized availability report. All participating programs are required to submit availability reports designating whether a player is “available,” “probable,” “questionable,” “doubtful,” or “out” by 8 pm ET three days prior to their Playoff game, with daily updates leading to a final report released 90 minutes prior to kickoff.

Check out Oregon and James Madison’s initial Playoff availability report released Wednesday night below:

No. 5 Oregon Ducks (11-1)

No. 12 James Madison Dukes (12-1)

No. 5 Oregon is an overwhelming 20.5-point home favorite over the Sun Belt champion James Madison, according to BetMGM, with an low over-under total of 47.5 points, suggesting a rather lopsided victory for the Ducks. Of course, that’s in line with how the Dukes fared in their only other game this season against a Power Four opponent, a 28-14 loss at Louisville in Week 2.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, December 20th. The winner will move on to play No. 4 Texas Tech in the Capital One Orange Bowl (CFP Quarterfinals).
