Although No. 15 Michigan fell to USC 31-13 on the road Saturday night, sophomore running back Jordan Marshall took a dig at the crowd in The Coliseum.

“We’re playing at the Coliseum, it’s cool, if it’s nothing like Michigan,” Marshall said postgame. “We play in front of 110, 111 (thousands), every single week. Everybody was saying how the environment was gonna be crazy, it wasn’t Michigan.”

The second-year running back led the Wolverines in rushing with 68 yards on 14 carries. Through six games this season, the Archbishop Moeller alum boasts 301 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He saw extended reps Saturday night due to an injury sustained by Justice Haynes.

Although Marshall had a solid game for Michigan, the story of the game was the emergence of USC walk-on freshman running back King Miller. Miller, who got a chance to shine due to Waymond Jordan‘s injury, made the most of his opportunity. He lit the Wolverine defense up for 156 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries. Entering the game, Miller boasted just 152 yards this season on 11 carries.

“He was unreal,” USC head coach Lincoln Riley said postgame. “He does what he’s been doing at practice and it was awesome seeing the mentality. When you lose guys like that, you can either fold or man up. And our guys just did a great job responding. King and the O-line, they were just incredible.”

Following the loss, Michigan fell to 4-2 on the season. In both losses, the Wolverines mustered just 13 points.
