Kentucky transfer Bryce Hopkins commits to Providence

Kentucky transfer Bryce Hopkins has committed to Providence, he told On3.
“I picked Providence because I feel like I was not only wanted but needed,” Hopkins said to On3. “From day one, before I made my commitment to Kentucky, me and Coach (Ed) Cooley built a strong relationship. I feel that coach Cooley has a great plan for me to reach my goals of going to the next level.”
The Friars have now landed five commitments via the transfer portal. Bryce Hopkins joins South Carolina’s Devin Carter, La Salle’s Clifton Moore, Louisville’s Noah Locke, and UConn’s Corey Floyd Jr.
The 6-foot-6 freshman forward played sparingly for Kentucky this season, only earning about 6.4 minutes per game. He ended the year averaging 2.1 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.3 assists.

Hopkins was considered a four-star prospect coming out of high school, and ranked 38th nationally in the class of 2021. He averaged 24.4 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game as a senior at Fenwick High School located right outside of Chicago.
The Illinois native was originally committed to Louisville during his senior year, before flipping his commitment to rival Kentucky He also received scholarship offers from Michigan, Oregon, Iowa State, Illinois, Texas, Providence, and Indiana.
