Kirk Herbstreit is NOT a fan of Adidas’ football uniforms, and ESPN’s College GameDay analyst made his feelings clear during a lengthy rant about Adidas-branded Indiana and Miami two weeks ago on The Pat McAfee Show. Given a few weeks to reflect on his comments, Herbstreit simply doubled down on his personal distaste for the brand during this week’s appearance on the popular weekday show.

Initially, Herbstreit claimed he had “nothing against Adidas.” He then, again, went in on Adidas uniforms, comparing the world’s second-most popular and profitable sportswear brand to the ill-fitting ones usually seen worn by little leaguers.

“Bro, I have nothing against Adidas. When I was younger, I was incredibly loyal and just all about Nike, thanks to growing up in the Michael Jordan era. I’m not as passionate about (brands now), but I know what I see. I know when I look at a uniform, if a uniform is tight, if it looks good,” Herbstreit said on Thursday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show. “Remember when you played (little league), and there were a couple of guys on the team, like in fifth grade, where their pants were just not working, they were almost down to their calves, they were just too big and baggy. That’s what the Adidas uniform looks like to me.

“It looks like the little league uniforms where the kids just don’t quite fit into their uniforms. Again, it’s nothing against Adidas; I don’t know anybody from Adidas, I have no loyalty to anybody. I’m just going off what I see. And what I see is just not a good uniform.”

Kirk Herbstreit rants about Adidas-branded college football uniforms

During his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Herbstreit unleashed a fiery rant about the “hideous” look of Adidas football jerseys like those worn by the Indiana and Miami football programs. Herbstreit was discussing Week 7’s Big Ten showdown between Indiana and Oregon.

“… (The Hoosiers are) wearing Adidas – a really bad uniform. It’s hideous,” Herbstreit said Oct. 10 unprompted. “While I’m at it, the Miami uniform is hideous as well. It is awful. It could not be any worse. It’s hideous. Miami’s uniforms are a disgrace. They’re a disgrace. They need to go back to Nike. Indiana’s (uniforms) are trash. Their uniforms are terrible. I can’t stand them.”

McAfee made several attempts to interrupt Herbstreit’s rant, and even performed a bit of damage control in defense of Adidas. But was unsuccessful in defending the second-most popular and profitable sportswear brand behind only Nike.

“Certainly not a desirable position to be in, but what you just did to Adidas, that is currently investing a lot of money into American football, welcome to the sport, was maybe partially correct. Some of their stuff is ass,” McAfee said. “But Adidas Superstars are unbelievable. They’re investing in football and we assume they’ll only get better, like their cleats.”
