Drew Lock and Tom Herman have been in a beef for a while. But, as of Monday, that animosity has been squashed.
Lock posted a photo of himself with Herman on social media with the caption: “PSA: The beef has been squashed!”
The beef goes back to the 2017 college football season. Lock was the starting quarterback for Missouri. Herman was the head coach for Texas.
The Longhorns faced the Tigers in the Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium in Houston. Early in the third quarter, Lock threw a beautiful deep ball to Johnathon Johnson for a 79-yard touchdown. After the play, he did a stare down and little dance on the field.
Texas took offense to the dance. After Armanti Foreman iced the 33-16 Longhorns victory with an end-around rushing touchdown, Herman and other Texas players mocked the dance.
Drew Lock, Tom Herman had memorable 2017 seasons
Drew Lock finished the game completing 18 of his 34 passes for 269 yards and one touchdown to go along with an interception.
His 2017 was a memorable one as he led college football in passing touchdowns with 44 and earned the quarterback spot on the All-SEC first team.
He returned to Missouri for his senior season in 2018 and was named to the All-SEC second team. He was drafted in the second round by the Denver Broncos and is now a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
The 2017 season was Herman’s first at the helm of Texas, leading them to a 7-6 record and that Texas Bowl victory. It was a good building block for his program as the Longhorns vaulted to 10-4 in 2018 with a Sugar Bowl victory to boot.
But Texas took a step back the next two years and Herman was fired at the end of the 2020 season.
