On3 Consensus 4-star two-way lineman Markis Deal began the official visit process last weekend with a trip to TCU.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive tackle and offensive guard will make a second official June 17-19. The USC Trojans are now set to host Deal according to a family member.

The Trojans have built a solid relationship with Deal due in large part to a prior relationship with John Henson from his time at Texas A&M.

The Georgia Bulldogs will also receive an unofficial visit in June per a family member. Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott offered Deal April 28.

If USC or Georgia is to win out, they will have to beat out programs close to home. Close to home has been a theme of the Deal recruitment behind the scenes. Texas currently leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over TCU.

The trip to TCU was the second in less than two months for Deal, and family.

Deal concluded the track season two weeks with a ninth place finish in the 6A shot put. He posted a personal record of 56-10.

Deal was named the district 9-6A Two-Way Lineman of the Year as a junior, as well as 9-6A first team defensive end. He recorded 37 tackles and five sacks in 2021.

Markis Deal info from the On3 Personal Life section

Markis Deal, who has a 3.3 grade-point average, is looking to major in political science or business. He comes from an athletic family. His father Michael Deal, who’s the defensive line coach at Naaman Forest, played on the defensive and offensive line for UTEP from 1995 to 1998, while his mother Nicki played volleyball and basketball for the Miners. His older brother Devean Deal is a freshman defensive lineman at Tulane. Naaman Forest coach Jesse Perales knew early on that Deal was the real deal. “I’ve told Markis since day one, I’ve been fortunate to coach a couple of guys that made it to the NFL, and I told him as long as he keeps working hard and does things right and stays coachable, he’ll have an opportunity to play on Sundays,” Perales told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “That’s one of his goals and he’s going to work hard to attain that.”
