Memphis transfer Emoni Bates drawing interest from 10+ schools

It’s been just over 24 hours since Memphis freshman Emoni Bates‘s name officially appeared in the transfer portal and double-digit programs have already made contact with the former No. 1 overall prospect.
Here is a full list of schools that Bates provided via text to On3:
Arkansas, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Kansas, DePaul, Louisville, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Oklahoma State, Butler, and Washington State.
The pro route will also likely be an option as well for Bates.
The 6-foot-9 small forward averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists last season for the Tigers.
Bates announced he would be entering the portal on Sunday, and provided the following statement to On3.

“I’d like to thank Coach Penny, my teammates, and the entire coaching staff at the University of Memphis for giving me the opportunity to be a Tiger. Thank you Tiger Nation for embracing me and all of you who supported our team throughout this season. With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Bates said.
Bates long held the crown as the No. 1 player in the class of 2022, before reclassifying and heading to Memphis a year early as a 17-year-old.
