Missouri EDGE Zion Young arrested for alleged DWI

Missouri EDGE Zion Young was arrested early Saturday morning for alleged DWI, MizzouToday reported. Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a statement to the Post-Dispatch the program is aware of the situation.

Young was arrested at approx. 1:40 a.m. Saturday morning in Boone County for allegedly driving while intoxicated, speeding and failure to properly affix his license plate, according to KMOU-TV. he was released on summons and has not been formally charged.

In a statement, Drinkwitz said the program is aware of the situation. He added Mizzou will “address this matter.”

“We are aware of the situation involving Zion Young,” Drinkwitz said. “We have high expectations for all of our student-athletes, on and off the field, and we will address this matter.”

Young put together strong year at Mizzou in his second season after transferring from Michigan State. He totaled 38 tackles across 12 games, including new career-highs with 15 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. That came after an impressive debut campaign in CoMo when he totaled 42 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. For his efforts, Young earned a spot on the All-SEC Coaches’ Team.

Missouri put together an 8-4 record during the 2025 regular season, ending the year ranked No. 25 in the AP Poll. However, the Tigers will go through 2026 with a new offensive coordinator.

Kirby Moore was officially named the new head coach at Washington State this week, marking a return to the Pacific Northwest for the Prosser, Wash. native. Moore was Mizzou’s offensive coordinator since 2023 after coming over from Fresno State and will now get ready for his first head coaching opportunity with the Cougars.

“I’m honored and excited to join Washington State University as its new head football coach,” Moore said in a statement. “Becoming a first-time head coach at a special place like Washington State is a dream come true for my family and I. I want to thank President Cantwell and Jon Haarlow for the opportunity to return home and continue the proud tradition of Cougar football. The future of our program is bright. I look forward to leading this team and making our state proud!
