NCAA announces Atlanta will host 2031 Men's Final Four
Atlanta will host the 2031 Men’s Final Four, the NCAA announced via release. The event will take place on April 5 and 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The city was originally slated to host the event in 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will mark the fifth time Atlanta has hosted the event.
The last time Atlanta played host to the Men’s Final Four came in 2013 which saw Louisville ultimately defeat Michigan to win a now controversial national title win for the Cardinals.
“The cancellation of the 2020 tournament, including the Men’s Final Four in Atlanta, was a necessary yet devastating decision for student-athletes, coaches and fans. It significantly impacted the Association and its membership, as well as the city of Atlanta, which has repeatedly been a terrific host to the event,” said Dan Gavitt, the NCAA’s senior vice president of basketball, via the release.
“The committee has been empathetic in its consideration of replacing the 2020 Men’s Final Four for Atlanta, and ultimately the city competed favorably and won the opportunity to host again at long last in 2031. We are looking forward to working with the Atlanta team to provide another memorable Men’s Final Four experience.”

Atlanta now joins Kansas City, Indianapolis, New York, Louisville, New Orleans, Seattle and San Antonio as the only cities in tournament history to host five Final Fours.
The first came in 1977 when Marquette defeated North Carolina in the Omni Coliseum. The event returned in 2002, this time being held in the Georgia Dome as Maryland secured its lone national championship in program history. 2007 saw Florida capture its second championship in a row at the same venue before the Cardinals and Wolverines duked in out in front of a then-record 74,326 fans.
The NCAA has already announced that the Men’s Final Four will be heading to San Antonio in 2025, but will also be in Indianapolis in 2026 and 2029, Detroit in 2027, Las Vegas in 2028 and North Texas in 2030 which means all venues for the next seven seasons are official.
Looking to the future, the release also notes that final sites will be selected for the preliminary rounds of the 2027 and 2028 NCAA Tournaments. Those will be be revealed in early October.
