Jaws dropped all around the college football world last Wednesday night when it was announced that Sherrone Moore had been fired as Michigan‘s head coach. He took over for Jim Harbaugh in 2024 and led the Wolverines to a 16-8 record in the full-time role.

On3 confirmed Wolverines players were abruptly called for a team meeting, where they learned of the news. Michigan AD Warde Manuel then announced the decision was for cause after a university investigation found “credible evidence that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member” in a statement.

Moore was later charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering during an arraignment hearing last week.

According to prosecutors during the hearing, Moore was unarmed when he allegedly entered the residence of the woman he was having an inappropriate relationship with through an unlocked door without permission. Authorities say a verbal confrontation ensued and escalated. Prosecutors alleged Moore retrieved knives and scissors from a drawer and threatened to harm himself, telling the woman involved that “my blood is on your hands.”

Rece Davis sends plea to men dealing with similar situations as Sherrone Moore

As many continue to process the situation, ESPN‘s Rece Davis sent out a public service announcement to men and coaches in the sports world: ‘Just go home’.

“I’m gonna offer one public service announcement here, particularly to men who become intoxicated with their position and power,” Davis said on the ‘College GameDay Podcast‘. “Some men become mesmerized by the attention or affection of someone romantically. If you are married, just go home. Just got home. My great friend Rod Gilmore and I have talked about this for almost 30 years now since we worked together early in my days at ESPN.”

“We always say, all these guys when the temptation comes out, have the discipline. Just go home, man. You made a commitment. You talk about commitment all freaking day. Just go home. And also you can read the excerpt from Nick (Saban)‘s book about who you might choose to have liaisons with and all that, which is a pretty funny thing.”

In the 2015 biography titled ‘Saban: The Making of a Coach,” the legendary head coach dished out a hilarious quote in regard to dealing with affairs as a high-level figure.”

“Ultimately, you never want to sleep with anybody who has less to lose than you do,” Saban said. “So ultimately, if I’m ever going to sleep around on Miss Terry, it’s going to be with Hillary F’kn Rodham Clinton.”

As Moore begins his journey through the legal process, Michigan will continue to find his replacement before the Transfer Portal opens on Jan. 2.
