Report: Kansas State wide receiver Jayce Brown intends to enter NCAA transfer protal
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Kansas State wide receiver Jayce Brown intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Brown leaves the program after being the team’s leading receiver throughout the 2025 season. Now, an experienced player with a ton of numbers on the resume hits the open market.
“Sources: Kansas State’s leading wide receiver, Jayce Brown, intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal,” Thamel said via X. “He led the Wildcats with 712 receiving yards this year. He’ll be among the most overall productive receivers in the portal with 1,972 receiving yards, 14 TDs and 115 catches.”
On3’s Hayes Fawcett has since confirmed the report. A big name to watch once the transfer portal officially opens in early January.
Brown played high school football at Fort Walton Beach (FL) Choctawatchee Academy, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,404 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Kansas State was Brown’s lone power conference offer when he wound up signing with the program. Some ACC schools appeared to have interest but not enough to pull the trigger on a scholarship. So, Brown made his way to Manhattan to prove his worth.

Three seasons later, the development clearly worked. Brown caught 41 passes in 2025 for 712 yards and five touchdowns, playing in just 10 games. Those numbers are slightly lower than what he produced as a sophomore, showing there is still more in the tank moving forward.
One season of eligibility remains for Brown. No redshirt was taken during his time with Kansas State, making an impact from the jump as a true freshman. You have to imagine the goal is to land somewhere with the expectations of putting together a breakout campaign before jumping to the NFL.
As for Kansas State, a new era is coming to the Little Apple. Head coach Chris Kleiman decided to end his coaching career, retiring at the conclusion of the season. Legendary quarterback and former offensive coordinator Colin Klein now steps into the role, hoping to guide his alma mater to success. Klein is scheduled to remain at Texas A&M through the College Football Playoff run.
Roster turnover is going to take place for any school going through a coaching change. Brown is just a big name for Kansas State, as it’s never easy to replace your leading receiver.
