Roch Cholowsky after UCLA's loss to LSU: 'The West can hang with anybody'

Due to a rain delay, UCLA saw its time at the College World Series come to an end in one day. A loss to LSU before dropping an elimination game to Arkansas meant the Bruins were heading back to Los Angeles. A great run in the program’s first Big Ten season, making it all the way to Omaha.
UCLA was not the only former Pac-12 school to make an appearance. Arizona and Oregon State were also present and competing with some of college baseball’s top dogs. For Roch Cholowsky, this proved programs out West are able to fight with anybody out there.
“The West can hang with anybody,” Cholowsky said. “I mean, we’re one of the last eight teams standing along with Arizona and Oregon State. Something that I thought was pretty cool today as we were taking BP and Coach (Mitch) Canham told us to represent the West well. I thought that was pretty special because coming from the same conference last year and really being together. The West can play with anybody. We showed that this year, Oregon State showed that, so did UA.”
Of the three mentioned, Arizona was the only one not to host a regional or Super Regional. They had to go through Eugene, another West Coast team in Oregon, before traveling across the country to Chapel Hill. Going down 1-0 against North Carolina set up for an incredible comeback, winning two games for a spot in the College World Series.

UCLA enjoyed a smooth ride to Omaha. Three games in the Los Angeles Regional resulted in three wins before hosting four-seed UTSA in a Super Regional. Due to Texas being upset in the Austin Regional, the Bruins hosted and ended what was one of the multiple Cinderella stories unfolding at the time.
Finally, Oregon State got all they could handle in the Corvallis Regional. Similar to Arizona, another West Coast team was attempting to take them down, USC. Two wins against the Trojans were required, and Oregon State got the job done with relative ease, winning by a combined score of 23-1. Florida State then flew all the way from Tallahassee for one of the more entertaining Super Regionals out there. The Beavers took Game 3, 14-10.
Cholowsky wanted to make sure to give his team and two others some love. While none wound up winning the national championship, good results were stacked up across the three.
