Ryan Williams, Cayden Green injury update: Alabama, Missouri reveal status of key players on Wednesday report
For just the ninth time in their histories, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Missouri Tigers are set to play. There have been bigger stakes matchups between the two, mainly the 2012 SEC Championship game. However, this one brings plenty of juice for a regular season game, as both teams are ranked inside the top 15.
Unfortunately, there are some injuries both teams are dealing with heading into the showdown. We now have the first injury report of the week, which was released on Wednesday night. Two more are expected in the coming days as well.
Alabama Crimson Tide
- DL Jeremiah Beaman – OUT
- LB Cayden Jones – OUT
- LB Jah-Marien Latham
- WR Jaylen Mbakwe – DOUBTFUL
- LB Qua Russaw – OUT
- WR Ryan Williams – PROBABLE
Missouri Tigers
- K Blake Craig – OUT
- OL Cayden Green – QUESTIONABLE

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz gave us Green’s designation before the report became available. Getting its starting left tackle back would be massive for the Tigers. But Drinkwitz admits there are still hurdles to clear.
“Cayden Green will be listed as questionable this week,” Drinkwitz said during a Tuesday press conference. “He did get some rehab reps yesterday. Really, the challenge is to see where he is today, to see how that progresses. Won’t know for sure or for certain until the end of the week. So, follow along closely with the SEC availability report.”
Eli Drinkwitz curious on wardrobe choice of Kalen DeBoer
Wednesday brings an opportunity for the national media to speak to SEC coaches via the SEC Coaches Teleconference. Drinkwitz showed up for his original time slot, answering questions. However, he stayed put afterward since Kalen DeBoer was next up.

From there, reporter Drinkwitz took over. Usually, questions about injuries or big-picture topics get asked. Instead, Drinkwtiz asked about what DeBoer would be wearing on the sidelines.
“Hey, Kalen,” Drinkwitz said. “Are you going to wear the black hoodie of death on the sideline this game? With us wearing black jerseys.”
DeBoer gave his answer to a popular question over the past few weeks. He wore a polo in the opener vs. Florida State, a game Alabama lost. Ever since then, DeBoer has stuck with the black hoodie and found an immense amount of success.
“Oh, Coach Drink,” Kalen DeBoer laughed. “I’ve got to fit in somehow. More than likely. We’ll see what the forecast is. I kind of know, but yeah, I’m expecting that. It’s got its own life of its own right now. So, we’re rolling with it.”
