South Carolina player files criminal complaint against Texas A&M cop after Nyck Harbor gameday incident
Social media lit up during the South Carolina–Texas A&M game in November. Partially due to the first-half score but also for an incident involving a South Carolina player and a policeman inside Kyle Field. Nyck Harbor had just scored a long touchdown before bumping into and getting yelled at by the cop.
Harbor was not the only player involved in the moment. Oscar Adaway was to his right, also being on the receiving end of a bump and some yelling. Now, Adaway has filed a criminal complaint against the officer, saying the family has gone through distress in the weeks since.
“Oscar Adaway III, one of two University of South Carolina athletes who were elbowed by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper during a football game at Texas A&M in November, accused the trooper of assault in a criminal complaint filed Dec. 12, according to the student-athlete’s attorney, B. Keith Jackson,” The Washington Post said. “The Brazos County District Attorney is considering whether to move forward with charges, Jackson said.”
The Washington Post added that Adaway saw a psychiatrist over the incident. He also called the Texas A&M police department to report an assault on the still-unnamed officer.
Adaway did not record a statistic throughout the game. He was a part of the track race won by Harbor for a touchdown late in the second quarter to put South Carolina up 27-3 at the time. Harbor’s momentum took him into a Kyle Field tunnel, where the incident then took place.

More on Oscar Adaway, 2025 season with South Carolina
Adaway is a long-time college football player, just wrapping up his seventh season. Two of those were spent in Columbia with South Carolina. North Texas is where his career began, receiving extra eligibility due to a redshirt, an ACL injury, and the COVID-19 season.
In 11 games played, Adaway recorded 140 yards on 41 carries. His lone touchdown of the season came early on during a nonconference tilt vs. South Carolina State. Adaway’s season-high, from a yards perspective, came a week later in the Kentucky game with 27 yards.
Adaway will end up playing in 55 games throughout his seven-year career. Ten of those were starts, finishing with 2,370 yards and 18 touchdowns. Most of the production came in Denton before making the jump to SEC play. Now, it’s a wait-and-see for what could be next in his football career.
