Syracuse lands legacy DT with NFL pedigree in George Rooks from transfer portal

Syracuse has landed a Transfer Portal signature from former Boston College defensive lineman and legacy recruit George Rooks.
One of the better interior players available, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Rooks has registered 51 tackles over the last two seasons including 26 this past fall. He started 11 of 13 games for the Eagles.
Rooks was a two-year starter for Boston College after being on the roster at Michigan for two seasons.
Rooks’s father was a defensive lineman at Syracuse (1988-91) and was the 1991 Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year before being drafted by the New York Giants.

Rooks committed and signed with Michigan as part of the 2021 class before landing with the Eagles. He chose the Wolverines over Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia among others.
Out of Jersey City (NJ) St. Peter’s Prep, Rooks posted 40 tackles for loss in 160 stops over his final three years of high school, including 22 of those tackles coming as sacks. A four-star prospect he was the On3 Industry’s No. 34 defensive lineman.
