Texas A&M Aggies land commitment from CB Camren Hamiel

Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge On300 cornerback Camren Hamiel has committed to Texas A&M. The four-star Hamiel chose to play for head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies over his other top schools in Penn State, Nebraska, Indiana and Oregon.
“The family part of it,” Hamiel said. “I felt at home. Them actually having a nickel room and nickel coach that really sold it for me.”
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Hamiel becomes commit No. 12 for Texas A&M in the 2026 class, which ranks No. 6 in the nation according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
“A&M the relationship everyone has with each other, that’s probably the only place I’ve been where everyone seems super close,” Hamiel said. “When I went there I felt at home.”
Hamiel loves Elko and the direction of the program.
“His story is really inspiring,” Hamiel said. “And also being a defensive guy I feel like you should want to play for a coach that’s a defensive guy.

“I think (A&M) is going up. A lot of people say they haven’t won nothing since the 90s. For me that doesn’t really matter because I think anything can change and I think it will.”
The On3 Industry tabs Hamiel as the No. 1 recruit in Arizona, the No. 24 cornerback in the country and No. 268 prospect overall. As a junior Hamiel racked up 50 tackles with five tackles for loss, three pass breakups and three interceptions.
Texas A&M looks to build on the recruitment momentum this weekend with several five-stars and top targets coming to College Station. That intel here.
