Due to inclement weather, Texas A&M and LSU‘s baseball showdown will not start until 8 p.m. CT. It was initially scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT.

Texas A&M is coming off a mid-week win over Lamar. It was a much-need bounce-back after the Aggies were swept by in-state rival Texas in their three-game series this past weekend.

With the win over Lamar, Texas A&M improved to 25-19. The Aggies are 8-13 in conference play this season. In comparison, LSU is having a standout season, boasting a 37-9 overall record and a 14-7 mark in SEC competition.

The Tigers are the No. 2 team in the country and are on a two-game win streak. Texas A&M and LSU have split their last 10 meetings but the Aggies own a 32-29-1 all-time record against the Tigers.

Texas A&M will have Ryan Prager, Justin Lamkin and Myles Patton on the mound this weekend. The trio has started every weekend for the Maroon & White, combining for a 4.25 ERA and 187 strikeouts in 182 innings of work.

Despite the pitching corps’ success this season, LSU will be the heavy favorite against the Aggies this weekend. Of course, that won’t stop LSU head coach Jay Johnson from preparing his team for Texas A&M.

“Texas A&M is a very talented team, a team that played for the national championship last year,” Johnson said. “They have a lot of really good returning players, and we’re very familiar with their roster. They’ve beaten a couple of top programs (Tennessee and Arkansas) in SEC road series recently, and they played three really close games last weekend against the team that’s No. 1 right now (Texas).

“They’re an Omaha-caliber team. This will be a great challenge for us, and we’re excited about it.”

LSU hasn’t had any issues dealing with challenges yet this season. On the mound for the Tigers, sophomore left-hander Kade Anderson is No. 3 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC in strikeouts (102). he is also No. 2 in the league in innings pitched (64.2).

Additionally, junior right-hander Anthony Eyanson is No. 9 in the nation and No. 4 in the SEC in strikeouts with 91 Ks. The pair will look to build on their momentum against the Aggies this weekend.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT on Saturday. Game 3 is set for 1 p.m. CT on Sunday.
