Updated Florida State vs. Georgia odds: Orange Bowl point spread

The Bulldogs are going off as a 20-point favorite over the Seminoles at the moment, according to lines released by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Moreover, Florida State will enter the game having to overcome some immense disappointment after being left out of the College Football Playoff with a perfect 13-0 record on the season.
An injury to starting quarterback Jordan Travis late in the season proved to be the death knell for the Seminoles’ playoff chances. After Travis was lost, the Florida State offense struggled to put together consistent offense using a pair of backup quarterbacks. That was presumably a big factor in the early point spread.
Backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker led the team to a win over rival Florida, going 12-of-25 passing for 134 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. But he was knocked out of the contest with a hard hit late, and he was not available for the ACC Championship Game against Louisville.
Instead third-string quarterback Brock Glenn stepped in, and he went 8-of-21 passing for 55 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
That lack of offense contributed to the College Football Playoff selection committee’s decision to leave Florida State out of the playoff.
The ‘Noles will have to manufacture some offense if they hope to finish off the year unbeaten against the Bulldogs.

Since the end of the season, Florida State has lost numerous players to the NCAA Transfer Portal, such as offensive lineman Bless Harris and Daughtry Richardson and quarterback Tate Rodemaker.
Georgia, of course, will be looking to bounce back from an incredibly disappointing finish in the SEC Championship Game, losing a close game to Alabama and watching the team’s playoff hopes fade. It was only the second loss for the Bulldogs in the last 47 games.
Quarterback Carson Beck has been quite solid throughout the season, and the extra time off should give stars Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey time to more fully heal from injuries that limited them throughout the season. Their presumed health also shifts the point spread further in Georgia’s favor.
Beck has thrown for 3,738 yards and 22 touchdowns, against just six interceptions. The Bulldogs also boast a pair of running backs who have each topped 650 yards this season.
Finally, Bowers and McConkey offer healthy production in the passing game, with Bowers tallying 714 yards and six touchdowns and McConkey notching 456 yards and two touchdowns.
As for their transfer portal losses, Georgia has seen players like quarterback Brock Vandagriff, and defenders Darris Smith, Nyland Green, Marvin Jones Jr. and Jamon Dumas-Johnson.
The Orange Bowl will be played on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. ET with a national broadcast on ESPN.
