Mass St. Collective continues to come up with creative NIL opportunities for Kansas Jayhawk student-athletes.

In July, Mass St. partnered with BeONE Sports to feature 11 of KU’s top stars in football, men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball on JD Motorsports driver Brennan Poole’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race car. The Jayhawk-themed car took the track at Kansas Speedway on Saturday in the Kansas Lottery 300. Poole finished 28th in the race.

Now KU fans can purchase a limited edition “exclusive 1/24 scaled model” of the No. 6 BeOne Sports/Kansas Athletics Chevrolet. The first-of-a-kind NASCAR car featured 11 athletes – including Big 12 offensive player of the year Jalon Daniels and impact transfer Hunter Dickinson from the Jayhawks’ basketball team – on its sides tailgate and decklid. A portion of the proceeds are expected to go back to the collective to benefit NIL activations for athletes.

Only 500 diecast models are available for $80. Plus, each diecast is consecutively numbered from 1-500. Additionally, it is securely packaged in Kansas Athletics/Be One Sports colors to match the look of the diecast. Because of the “production detail of the exact replicas,” the diecast cars will be delivered in the spring of 2024.

“Our goal at Mass St. Collective is to find new and unique instances where we can grow the brand of our KU student-athletes in new and meaningful ways through name, image and likeness,” Mass St. Collective president Dan Beckler told On3 in July.

“To partner with BeOne Sports and have 11 Jayhawks on a NASCAR is something that has never been done before. It’s an exciting way to bring NIL and college athletes to the racing industry.”

Along with Daniels, running back Devin Neal and defensive backs JaCobee Bryant and Kenny Logan are the other football players included. Dickinson is featured on the car’s hood along with Bryant, Logan, women’s basketball player Holly Kersgieter and teammate Kevin McCullar.

Star guard Dajuan Harris and power forward KJ Adams join Dickinson and McCullar on the paint scheme from the KU men’s basketball team. Taiyanna Jackson, a unanimous All-Big 12 pick last season, and volleyball star Caroline Bien are the other female student-athletes included.

“Brand loyalty is the best among NASCAR fans,” Beckler said. “We hope this car only adds to that.”

Mass St. is known as one of the most ambitious NIL collectives in the country for a reason. And if the diecast cars sell well, don’t be surprised if Beckler creates another unique opportunity for KU athletes.
