Starting quarterbacks for Power 5 programs entered the 2022 college football season with an average On3 NIL Valuation of $389,953. The data points reflect the most recent data prior to each team’s first game.

The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market value for the NIL of high school and college athletes. It uses a proprietary algorithm that calculates an athlete’s NIL value for up to 12 months into the future using data points including an athlete’s performance, influence and exposure.

It doesn’t act as a tracker of the value of the NIL deals an athlete has completed to date, nor does it set an athlete’s market value for the athlete’s entire career.

Quarterbacks have proven to have some of the highest NIL market values in college athletics. This data reaffirms that.

Quarterbacks lead the 10 highest valuations

Following the conclusion of Week 1’s slate of games, the college football players with the three highest On3 NIL Valuations are quarterbacks. In order, Alabama‘s Bryce Young, USC‘s Caleb Williams and Ohio State‘s CJ Stroud rank first, second and third.

South Carolina‘s Spencer Rattler, Florida‘s Anthony Richardson and TexasQuinn Ewers each rank in the top 10 after Week 1, too. You can view the latest top 10 here.

After Richardson led the Gators to an upset of No. 7 Utah, his On3 NIL Valuation roughly doubled.

Not only do Young, Williams and Stroud lead current college football players in terms of their On3 NIL Valuations, but they also rank fourth through sixth in the On3 NIL 100, respectively. The On3 NIL 100 is the first of its kind and the defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by market valuation.

Five Power 5 quarterbacks — Young, Stroud, Williams, Rattler and Ewers — entered their respective season openers with an On3 NIL Valuation of at least $1.5 million. Seven other quarterbacks had a projected NIL market value of at least $500,000.
