YouTube TV and NBC have reached a long-term deal, the two sides announced in a joint press release. It comes after the two sides reached a short-term agreement to avoid a blackout amid a carriage dispute.

As part of the agreement, NBCUniversal’s full portfolio will remain on YouTube TV – including NBC, Telemundo, Golf Channel, USA Network and more. Additionally, NBC is set to launch the new NBC Sports Network, which YouTube TV will carry. Peacock will also be available in the “coming months” as part of a subscription through YouTube Premium Channels.

NBCUniversal’s carriage deal with YouTube TV was due to expire at midnight ET Sept. 30, but the two sides reached a short-term deal to avoid a blackout, On3 previously reported. Now, NBC networks will stay on the service for the coming years. Puck’s John Ourand first reported a new deal was “close.”

“Our new agreement with Google is a clear win for both our business and our viewers – underscoring the enduring value of our must-see shows, films, sports, and live events while expanding our reach to even more audiences,” said Matt Schnaars, NBCUniversal president of platform distribution and partnerships, in a statement.

“We’ve secured long-term access to our full portfolio of broadcast and cable networks on YouTube TV, and we’re advancing our Peacock strategy with an upcoming launch on YouTube Primetime Channels and ongoing presence on Google TV. This agreement positions us for continued growth and reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment to fans across platforms.”

What YouTube TV, NBC deal means for sports fans

For football fans, Big Ten games air in primetime on NBC through a media rights deal that began in 2023, and Notre Dame football also plays games on the network. NBC has two games on its air on Saturday – Boise State at Notre Dame and Minnesota at Ohio State.

Of course, NBC also has the rights to Sunday Night Football in the NFL. This week, the New England Patriots will take on the Buffalo Bills.

This week’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte will also be on USA Network. That channel was also in the crosshairs of the dispute, but YouTube TV subscribers will be able to tune in as the network will stay for years to come.

“This deal builds on our long-standing partnership with NBCU while addressing the evolving media landscape and recognizing the importance of making content available where and how viewers want to watch it,” said Justin Connolly, YouTube vice president and global head of media and sports, in a statement. “We are pleased to have reached this agreement and look forward to continuing our partnership to serve billions of viewers around the world.”
