<a href="https://www.on3.com/rivals/ceedee-lamb-19448/">CeeDee Lamb</a> will miss time due to a high ankle sprain. The injury took place on a play where we do not usually see the wide receiver lined up. Lamb took a handoff out of the backfield, lined up like a running back would. Just after crossing the line of scrimmage, a Chicago Bears defender rolled up on Lamb.



This led to Dallas Cowboys head coach <a href="https://www.on3.com/rivals/coach/brian-schottenheimer-131950/">Brian Schottenheimer</a> being asked if there were any regrets about the play call. His answer was a definitive one, citing the need to get Lamb the ball at all costs. Schottenheimer even used his quarterback as an example for the future.



“Absolutely not,” Schottenheimer <a href="https://x.com/toddarcher/status/1970251887401120088">said</a> via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “You call passes and runs for people and try to get them the ball and it’s unfortunate. We’re still going to call quarterback runs with <a href="https://www.on3.com/rivals/dak-prescott-28005/">Dak (Prescott)</a> at times.”



During the game, Lamb instantly knew his ankle was the issue. He eventually got his shoe back on after being looked at by trainers with the hope of continuing to play. One movement did enough to tell him his afternoon was done. Lamb limped back to the sideline and watched the rest of the game there.



The Cowboys are now likely to be without Lamb for quite a few weeks. A massive blow for the team when considering how badly the offense needs to produce moving forward. If the defense is going to continually let up big-time performances, a good amount of points will be required.



Unfortunately, Prescott moves forward without his favorite target. Still, Schottenheimer does not regret the play itself, wanting to give a top playmaker an opportunity.

While speaking to reporters on Monday, Schottenheimer gave an update on Lamb, who suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.



“Going to miss some time,” Brian Schottenheimer said, per <a href="https://x.com/JoeJHoyt/status/1970237489098195191">Cowboys beat reporter Joseph Hoyt. </a>“Probably unlikely he’ll play this week, but we’ll see.”



<a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46347737/sources-cowboys-ceedee-lamb-ankle-likely-vs-packers">Todd Archer of ESPN </a>reported that CeeDee Lamb could miss three to four weeks with a high left ankle sprain. After the Bears game on Sunday, Lamb told reporters the injury is “absolutely” something he could play through. He had an MRI on the ankle on Monday morning.
