Daniel Jones reacts to 'Indiana Jones' nickname change since joining Colts

Daniel Jones seems to like the “Indiana Jones” nickname that was given to him after joining the Indianapolis Colts. On the ManningCast, Peyton Manning asked Jones if he joined the Colts so he could get a nickname upgrade.

“I didn’t factor that in. I’d say it’s probably an upgrade,” Daniel Jones said while laughing. Jones is playing like Indiana Jones as he has led the Colts to a 3-0 record so far this season. In those three games, Daniel Jones has completed 71.6 percent of his passes and has thrown for 816 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The 28-year-old has also rushed for 55 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries.

Jones joined the Colts after spending his first six seasons with the New York Giants. During his time in New York, Jones played in 70 games with 69 starts and threw for 14,582 yards, 70 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions with a 24-44 QB record.

After the Colts defeated the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, head coach Shane Steichen talked about the play of his quarterback. “You’ve got a guy that’s the signal-caller back there that studies his tail off, looks at tape all day every day, grinding, looking at different things, knowing the checks, understanding what we’re trying to get done offensively, getting us in and out of the right plays,” Steichen said, via Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star. “That stuff pays huge dividends in this league, because there’s a lot going on. Obviously, this is one of the toughest positions in all of sports to play, and he’s doing it right now as good as it gets.”

“When you look at a lot of the statistics and how you evaluate likelihood of scoring, I think those negative plays are huge, drive killers, and having just one of them in a drive can really hurt your chances,” Jones said about the team’s success. “So I think we’ve been doing a good job with that. Got to give big credit to the guys up front. The offensive line, obviously, that’s where it starts. And then guys getting open and my job to get the ball out on time.”

Indiana Jones is a media franchise known for its five movies, with the title character played by Harrison Ford. The last film (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) was released in 2023 and grossed $384 million at the box office worldwide.
