Garrett Wilson injury update: Jets WR's status for Panthers game reportedly finalized

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson suffered a knee injury during last Sunday morning’s game against the Denver Broncos in London. While it was reported by ESPN’s Rich Cimini that he avoided a serious ailment, he’s still slated to miss a bit of time.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Jets will have to try and find a way to get their first win of the season this weekend without their star wide receiver. He revealed that Wilson will miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, but he could return the following weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Jets star wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) won’t practice today and won’t play Sunday vs. the Panthers, sources tell CBS Sports,” Zenitz posted on X. “There’s some hope, though, that he could maybe be back as soon as next week’s game vs. the Bengals, per sources.
No matter what, it’s a huge blow for the Jets. Last weekend, Wilson was stymied, receiving eight targets against Denver, resulting in just three catches for 13 yards. It was the fourth-lowest receiving total of his career for a single game.
Additionally, it was far and away the worst game of the 2025 season for Wilson, as he’s previously reached at least 50 yards in the five games preceding, and scored a touchdown in the previous three. This will also be the first time Wilson has ever missed a stretch of games, as he’s played in all 51 during his first three seasons in the NFL.

“I don’t really want to speak on that right now, to be honest with you, because I don’t really know what it is,” Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said on the injury earlier this week. “… But it’s always a concern when you lose one of your better players, I will say that.”
Alas, New York is back from across the pond, sporting an 0-6 record. Every single other NFL team has gotten at least a win to this point. But as of now, the Jets are still searching for their first one. As Glenn hinted at, losing one of your team’s best players does not help the cause.
At least on paper, a few winnable games are coming up on the schedule. Carolina got an emotional win last weekend, and they’ll be carrying some momentum into Sunday’s game, but they’re no Goliath. From there, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Baltimore pop up before the calendar turns to November.
Everyone in the building will be hoping to get Wilson back in the near future, especially with him out this weekend. Glenn is in his first season as the franchise’s head coach and wants to build something, along with getting his first win, and Wilson being a part of it all is massive for the Jets moving forward.
