Michigan vs. Texas odds: Early point spread released, how to watch

The biggest game of Week 2 is likely the noon showdown in the Big House in Ann Arbor, where Michigan is set to host Texas in a matchup of 2023 College Football Playoff teams. And there’s plenty of intrigue in the matchup.
Most interesting will be the high-octane Texas offense matching up against the physical, stingy Michigan defense. And on the flip side, the Wolverines will certainly need something more than the at-times anemic showing on Saturday or Texas’ talent could overwhelm.

And an early line from FanDuel has Texas as a 6.5-point road favorite over the defending national champions. The over/under point total is set at 49.5.
It’s rare that Michigan is a home underdog, but a visit from an SEC favorite and one of the most talented offenses in the country is reason enough for Vegas to like the Longhorns.

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan — Michigan Stadium
Texas enters Week 2 after a 52-0 cruise to victory over Colorado State in the opener. Even still, head coach Steve Sarkisian thinks his team needs to find another level to handle Michigan on the road.
“Well, we got to play better than we did today,” Sarkisian said on ESPN following the game. “It’s another opportunity, a great challenge. They’re the national champs, on the road. So, we got to play good football.”

And the Wolverines will likely still be sorting out the quarterback position, with both Davis Warren — who started Week 1 — and Alex Orji both expected to play. Orji occasionally spelled Warren and provided a quarterback running threat to the Wolverines attack.
Head coach Sherrone Moore indicated after Michigan’s season opening win against Fresno State, a 30-10 grind, that both quarterbacks would be used going forward. And he was pleased with Warren’s showing in the opener.
“Did a really good job just managing the offense and doing things the right way. Super happy for him and we’ll keep using him, keep using Orji, but both those guys did a really good job,” Moore said.
But not matter which way things go in Ann Arbor on Saturday, it’s a safe bet that this game will be one of the more anticipated non-conference games to come to the Big House in a long while.
