Ohio State QB Julian Sayin became the Heisman Trophy betting favorite, per BetMGM, as the Buckeyes rolled through Penn State. At 38-14 in the fourth quarter, the Buckeyes looked like their usual selves.

Sayin carved up the Nittany Lions defense at home. At that point in the game, Sayin was 20-of-23 passing for 316 yards and four touchdowns.

At roughly 2:30 p.m. ET, prior to the fourth quarter, Sayin was not the favorite as he was listed at +275, behind Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza (+225). That’s now changed.

Heisman Trophy favorites: Julian Sayin leads pack

QB Julian Sayin, Ohio State (+200)
QB Fernando Mendoza, Indiana (+225)
QB Ty Simpson, Alabama (+400)
QB Marcel Reed, Texas A&M (+600)
QB Gunner Stockton, Georgia (+1,500)
RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame (+1,800)

Sayin was discussed prior to another stellar performance. His former coach, albeit for a brief time, Nick Saban said he was a “dumbass” for putting the QB on the scout team when he first got to Tuscaloosa. To be fair, Sayin was an early enrollee in 2024 and only with the team a couple of months before Saban’s retirement.

“I think one point I’d like to make about Julian Sayin is he was at Alabama,” Saban began. “And the coach at Alabama played him on the scout team for a whole year. What a dumbass.”
