Projected 2024 NFL Draft order updated after Week 13

With the 2023 NFL season winding down, the unfortunate truth for at least a handful of teams is that it’s nearly time to shift focus to the offseason, as well as the 2023 NFL Draft.
Teams such as the Carolina Panthers (1-11), New England Patriots (2-10), and Arizona Cardinals (3-10) among others fall into that category, though the former isn’t in possession of what is likely to be the first overall pick. That belongs to the Chicago Bears (4-8), who acquired Carolina’s 2024 first-round pick earlier this year, which gave Carolina the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As things stand currently headed into Week 14, the Bears are in possession of the No. 1 overall pick, though it’s unlikely they trade out as they did in 2023. With the Bears still struggling to create enough offense to win games under third-year quarterback Justin Fields, the expectation is that the team will take another signal-caller in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This year’s class is rather deep at the position, but two names stand above the rest: USC’s Caleb Williams and North Carolina’s Drake Maye. Williams was the recipient of the 2022 Heisman Trophy and led the Trojans to a 7-5 record this season. Williams has likely played his last down of college football and will wrap up his career having thrown for 10,082 yards, 93 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on 66.9% passing across one season at Oklahoma and two at USC.

Maye guided the Tar Heels to an 8-4 mark this season and has thrown for 8,018 yards, 63 touchdowns and 16 interceptions on 64.9% passing in three seasons at North Carolina. He was named the ACC Player of the Year in 2022.
The New England Patriots, who are going through a quarterback crisis of their own, will likely take whoever Chicago doesn’t if they hold onto the second overall pick.
