Personal Life

Graham Barton was a 215-pound offensive lineman when he was a sophomore in high school. Yet, former Ravenwood coach Matt Daniels saw the potential for Barton to develop into something special. "Graham would always hang out in the coaches’ office after practice and have conversations about practice plans and reflect about practices," Daniels told The Tennessean. "I recall thinking that was unusual for a young high school kid. He felt comfortable doing that and that rubbed off on other guys. He led by example. We played Pulaski Academy (Arkansas) in his senior year and won (61-47). In critical moments we had Graham play a few snaps on defense, and he was asked to go in on a critical fourth-down play, was getting taped up. So Graham abandoned the tape job, sprinted on the field just as Pulaski snapped the ball, he put a pass-rush move on their center and was in the backfield in less than a second." Fast forward and Barton ended up as one of the most decorated players in Duke football history. He finished as a two-time All-American and a three-time Academic All-ACC team member.
