2026 QB Kase Evans decommits from Oklahoma State

Lexington (Texas) three-star quarterback Kase Evans is the latest prospect to decommit from Oklahoma after the firing of Mike Gundy.
Evans announced Thursday on Twitter that he was reopening his recruitment. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder had been committed to the Cowboys since June, when he chose them over offers from Tulane, Arkansas State, Texas State, UTEP and others.
“After many prayers and a long talk with my family, I have decided to decommit from Oklahoma State and reopen my recruitment,” Evans wrote in announcing his decision. “I want to say a huge Thank you to Coach Gundy, Coach Meachum, Coach Gonzales, Coach KC, and especially Coach Johns for seeing my potential to make an impact at OSU. Looking forward to big things ahead!”
Evans is the No. 1085 overall prospect and No. 65 QB in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
Rivals, however, is higher on him than both ESPN and 247. In the recently updated rankings, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 48 quarterback and No. 104 prospect in the Lone Star State.
As a junior, Evans completed 61 percent of his passes (231/343) while throwing for 3,113 yards and 37 touchdowns. He has started since his freshman year for the Eagles. And this fall, he’s off to a scorching-hot start, connecting on 63% of his attempts and throwing for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns through four games.

Another decommitment for the Cowboys
He is also one of the biggest losses for this Oklahoma State class, which has been decimated following Gundy’s firing. Evans is the fifth player to decommit since the news was announced Tuesday, leaving OSU with only 10 commitments.
In leaving the class, he joins running back Kaydin Jones, offensive tackle Aiden Martin, linebacker Trey McGlothlin, and wide receiver Jabarie Thornton, who all decommitted earlier this week. He is also the eighth player overall in the class to decommit from the ‘Pokes, joining the aforementioned players as well as EDGE Jaylen Stewart, running back Kaydin Jones and receiver Jabarie Thornton.
Each of the first three prospects decommitted in June, with Bradford flipping to TCU, Lincoln flipping to Arkansas and Stewart flipping to Illinois.
Gundy was in the midst of his 21st season as the head coach at his alma mater, where he became the winningest coach in program history. But his on-field results — and recruiting efforts — suffered greatly over the past few years. OSU’s 2023 recruiting class ranked No. 55 nationally, followed by the No. 50 class in 2024 and No. 43 class in 2025. This group was in that range before his firing, but has now dropped to No. 72 and last in the Big 12.
