IMG Academy's Jayden Wade (7) looks to pass during the first quarter of a high school football matchup at Mandarin High School, Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. The IMG Academy Ascenders defeated the Mandarin Mustangs 57-7.

IMG Academy (Fla.) quarterback Jayden Wade isn’t wasting time with his recruiting process.

The No. 1 overall prospect in the 2028 cycle will announce his commitment in just 11 days on Nov. 16, according to Rivals’ Adam Gorney. Wade is just coming to the end of his sophomore season at one of the top high school programs in the nation.

The top-ranked signal-caller will choose between seven schools: Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Florida, Ohio State, Oregon and Washington.

In his first full season starting for the Ascenders, Wade has thrown for over 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns to just two interceptions. He’s also rushed for three scores. IMG Academy is undefeated at 9-0 this fall and currently ranks No. 1 nationally, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings.

Georgia is a program that’s garnered some serious buzz in Wade’s young recruitment this fall. He visited Athens in May and returned to check out a game in September. UGA offensive coordinator Mike Bobo is helping lead the charge for the gunslinger.

“What makes him stand out, he’s an old guy. He knows a lot about football,” Wade told UGASports’ Jed May last month. “He’s been through a lot of situations, you know, a lot of experience. That’s just what makes him different, he knows a lot about football, he knows how to treat quarterbacks too as well.”

Texas, Ohio State and Oregon are among the other finalists that Wade has previously labeled eye-catchers. Despite there being a long time to go until he puts pen to paper and signs with a school, he knows what he’s looking for and is clearly ready to make his decision known.

“The main thing in my recruiting is development,” he told Rivals’ Chad Simmons in September. “I want the culture and relationships too, but it’s mainly about making me better and getting me ready for the NFL.”

Scout’s Take on Jayden Wade

Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this of Wade as a prospect:

“One of the most physically gifted quarterbacks in the 2028 cycle. Checks in at 6-foot-3.5, 183 pounds, and registers as an elite athlete with impressive speed times in the combine setting. Has a tight, quick throwing motion with a live downfield arm. Has the speed to take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Limited in terms of valuable game reps, working as a backup at national powerhouse IMG as a freshman. Will benefit greatly from gleaning experience on Friday nights. Older for the cycle, as he will turn 19 in the fall of his senior season.”
