4-star QB Peyton Falzone decommits from Auburn

Nazareth (Pa.) four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone has decommitted from Auburn, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Monday.

Committed to the Tigers since June 26, the blue-chipper is now back on the board once again. Falzone met with new AU head coach Alex Golesh on Sunday and even told AuburnSports that he was planning to sign on Wednesday.

“Everything is all ready to go,” he said. “I’m looking forward to signing on Wednesday and hitting the ground running.”

It’s the latest chapter in what’s been a topsy-turvy recruitment. Falzone was formerly committed to both Virginia Tech and Penn State. The Hokies won out for him the first time around last summer, but that lasted only a few months. He then chose Penn State in April, but flipped from the Nittany Lions to Auburn in June.

Falzone visited The Plains multiple times this fall, including an official visit in September and a trip over the weekend to watch the Iron Bowl. He committed to former head coach Hugh Freeze, who of course was relieved of his duties in October.

Falzone is the No. 296 overall prospect and No. 19 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 recruit in the Keystone State.

Dominoes continue to fall in the final push to National Signing Day and Falzone is now the top uncommitted QB on the board.Auburn has lost another piece to its 2026 class. Earlier on Monday, elite four-star safety Bralan Womack flipped to Mississippi State.

The Golesh era is underway at Auburn and that’s quickly led to some decisions being made on the recruiting front for the Tigers. With Womack and Falzone now out of the picture, Auburn is down to just 10 commits and its class now ranks No. 61 nationally, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Eyes turn toward Rivals five-star wide receiver Jase Mathews, Auburn’s top-ranked commit who’s been pursued heavily by Texas A&M and Ole Miss this fall. On Sunday, he told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong there’s a “90-percent chance” he signs with AU.

Mathews is now one of just four blue-chippers in Auburn’s class, alongside four-star EDGE Jaquez Wilkes, four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle and four-star offensive tackle Wilson Zierer.

Quickly after Golesh was hired, though, Auburn began to trend for multiple prospects in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. More on that here.
