Auburn flips WR Brian Williams away from rival Alabama
New Auburn head coach Alex Golesh has made his first recruiting splash in the Iron Bowl rivalry, poaching three-star wide receiver Brian Williams from Alabama.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder had been committed to the Crimson Tide since July, when he chose them over Kentucky, Florida, Penn State and a host of others. But prior to taking the head job at Auburn, Golesh was pushing to get Williams in his class at USF. The Bulls hosted him for two visits last month, including an official visit last weekend.
Now that the new staff on The Plains is taking shape, he’s joining up with the Tigers.
“Coach Golesh and his coaches started to show me interest the second they got to Auburn,” Williams told Rivals. “The communication with Auburn really started while Coach Golesh was at USF, even tho he didn’t know exactly where he was going to go. He kept telling me that I’m good no matter what.”
The new Tiger visited Auburn once last summer. He knows about the history and tradition on the Plains. He is excited to play at Auburn and for a staff he connects with.

“The reason I’ve chosen Auburn is because of the coaches. Coach Golesh and Coach Kodi Burns are the best out there. I’ve built a strong relationship with them as well as the rest of the staff, I love the offense they run and how they run their program.
“It is exciting to play for them at a school like Auburn, a historically good program that is respected in the football world.”
