4-star WR Travis Johnson commits to Wolverines: 'It's amazing to be a Michigan man'

Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star receiver Travis Johnson announced his commitment to Michigan on the Fourth of July.
“It’s amazing to be a Michigan man,” Johnson said.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Johnson chose to play for head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines over Penn State and South Carolina, among others.
“Michigan was the best fit for me,” Johnson said.
Future receivers coach Ron Bellamy was the lead recruiter.
“Coach Bellamy and coach Moore, we clicked from day one when they offered me. Then Chip Lindsey, the new offensive coordinator, I love the new system, and with Bryce Underwood being the new quarterback I could see myself thrive there for sure.”
Michigan pushing toward a Top 10 recruiting class
Ranked as the nation’s No. 23 receiver and No. 161 prospect overall, Johnson becomes commit No. 21 for Michigan in the 2026 class. Following his pledge, the Wolverines have Rivals’ No. 9-ranked class. Johnson visited Ann Arbor several times including his official in June.

“The people,” Johnson said of what else stood out. “It’s Michigan. It has a big network. The people are good. All of my guys from Virginia are there.”
Bellamy and the environment made Johnson feel extremely comfortable with the decision.
“Coach Bellamy, he went there,” Johnson said. “He knows everything about Michigan.”
Johnson loves the trajectory of the program under Moore and this second-year staff.
“Just the culture for real and they won the (national championship) two years ago,” Johnson said. “I want to win one, too. I’m trying my best, going to give my hardest every step of the way to try and get another one.”
