Cy Ridge (Texas) three-star defensive lineman Isaiah Broughton committed to UNLV this summer on July 6. That looks to be one of new head coach Dan Mullen’s best gets in the 2026 cycle, but it may be hard to keep ahold of the 6-foot-4, 315-pounder.

On Tuesday, Broughton announced an offer from Miami. Defensive line coach Damione Lewis and director of player personnel Davontay Love-Taylor extended the offer to the rising Lone Star State prospect.

The Hurricanes are the latest big program to jump in the mix for Broughton. At the beginning of August, he announced an official offer from Auburn. That looked to carry some weight, too.

On Aug. 2, Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman logged a pick in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine favor of the Tigers flipping Broughton from UNLV. He told Spiegelman that he was looking to visit Auburn at some point this fall.

“The conversations with the Auburn staff have been great. The offer means progress — and I want to be better than my brother,” Broughton said on Aug. 6. “I am very much considering Auburn. I want to play in the SEC.”

Broughton is the younger brother of former Texas Longhorns DL Vernon Broughton, who was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Vernon was a four-star recruit in the 2020 cycle.

Looking at Miami’s 2026 defensive haul

To date, Miami has the No. 12 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Of the 22 commits in the mix, 10 are set to line up on the defensive side of the ball.

The secondary is the highlight for head coach Mario Cristobal and Co., but there’s a lot to like around the defensive line, too. Miami Northwestern four-star Jordan Campbell and Venice (Fla.) four-star Asharri Charles make for an impressive EDGE duo.

Little Rock (Ark.) Central four-star Anthony Kennedy and Hoover (Ala.) three-star Tyson Bacon are the two listed DL commits in the class — and both were previously committed to SEC schools. Kennedy chose the Canes in June after backing off a pledge to Mizzou, while Bacon flipped from Tennessee that month, too.

Five blue-chip defensive backs are in the class: Seffner (Fla.) Armwood cornerback Jaelen Waters, Jonesboro (Ga.) CB Jontavious Wyman, Jonesboro safety Cortez Redding, Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park CB Camdin Portis and Jacksonville Mandarin CB Brody Jennings.
