Yves Missi was born in Cameroon and emigrated to the United States in 2021. He was originally at West Nottingham Academy in Maryland and played AAU basketball with the PSA Cardinals program. He then transferred before the 2022-2023 basketball season to Napa (California) Prolific Prep, where he helped the program win the prestigious John Wall Holiday Invitational in December 2022. Those that have tracked Missi’s career said his transformation into an elite player has been remarkable. “Anyone that’s followed him has seen his development,” PSA Cardinals coach Munch Williams told FanNation. “I think people are trying to project that if he’s improved this much, what will he be like when he gets to college. He has everything you need in a high major big and make it in the NBA.” Missi believes he has become a pretty complete player. “I’m someone who is willing to do everything he can to win the game, a good teammate, and a hard worker,” he told On3’s Joe Tipton. There has been serious talk about Missi reclassifying to the 2023 recruiting class and enrolling early in college. However, if the move to 2023 is made, it won’t come until after the AAU season, which concludes in July 2023.
