JaMarcus Shephard Expected To Bring Two Coaches, GM From Alabama
Oregon State’s 2025 season may have ended at the hands of Washington State on Saturday, but new head coach JaMarcus Shephard is already fast at work, building the beginning of his inaugural staff at Oregon State.
Our Assistant Coach Hotboard is LIVE, and BeaversEdge’s Ryan Harlan has confirmed that several names that are expected to join Shephard at Oregon State. The Oregonian first reported the news, but Harlan has since confirmed with sources as well.
Eron Hodges – GM
Mitch Dahlen – Co-OC/Quarterbacks
Torrey Gill – WR Coach
Alabama Associate Director, Player Personnel Eron Hodges is expected to serve as the program’s GM. He’s got a wide variety of experience, having served as Quality Control and Recruiting Coordinator at TCU before Alabama. He also served as RC and a defensive analyst at Louisville, and was Director of Recruiting at Texas Tech. He also served as the Director of Player Personnel for Purdue and was a recruiting analyst and Assistant Director of Player Personnel for Ohio State.
Dahlen, a Redmond (OR) native, is expected to come to Corvallis as the quarterbacks’ coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator after spending two years with the Crimson Tide, first as a senior analyst and quarterbacks analyst, before becoming assistant QB coach and assistant OC. Before Bama, Dahlen worked with the quarterbacks as an offensive analyst at Washington with Kalen DeBoer. Before Washington, Dahlen served with DeBoer at Fresno State in the same role. Before joining DeBoer, Dahlen was QB/OC at Black Hills State University and as an assistant WR/QB coach under Bryan Harsin. We’ll see who he serves with as Co-OC.
Gill is expected to return to Corvallis for his second stint as a Beaver coach, after serving on Jonathan Smith’s staff from 2022-24 as assistant WR coach and interim RB coach for the Sun Bowl in 2023. He remained on Trent Bray’s staff until spring, when he was hired by Alabama. He’s also worked as a graduate assistant at New Mexico State and as the wide receivers coach/pass game coordinator for Whittier College and the WR coach for Tabor College. He’s expected to serve as Shephard’s receivers coach…
