Myles Jones reclassifies to 2025 class and signs with Stanford

On Monday, Stanford men’s basketball announced the signing of 3-star combo guard Myles Jones out of Modesto Christian High School in Modesto, California. Jones committed to Stanford in September of 2024 as part of their 2026 class, but with the de-commitment of Jalen Petty, a spot opened up for Jones to come to The Farm one year earlier.
“Myles is a highly-skilled guard who has excellent feel. He can provide playmaking and long-range shooting,” Stanford head coach Kyle Smith said in the team release. “He adds to our young core, and he will have a great opportunity to learn under the tutelage of our two senior guards, Benny and Jeremy…Myles comes from an athletic family and learned the game from his father, who was a highly successful head coach in the Sacramento area. He understands the game in a way that Stanford fans will appreciate.”
Jones joins guard Ebuka Okorie, forward Kristers Skrinda, and forward/center Oskar Giltay in the Cardinal’s 2025 freshman class. Stanford also added a pair of transfers in guard Jeremy Dent-Smith and forward AJ Rohosy, so that’s six newcomers in total for the Cardinal. By adding Jones to this year’s squad, Stanford has a more balance in their roster.
As a junior at Modesto Christian, Jones averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He has the ability to play at both point guard and shooting guard, giving Smith and his staff some flexibility in the backcourt. He should get some minutes right away and as Smith said, do so while learning from the veteran guards on the team.
It’ll be fun to see what what kind of impact Jones makes on the Cardinal backcourt along with Okorie. I feel like Okorie is a bit more of a true point guard while Jones is a bit more of a shooting guard. But both guys can get after it on defense, facilitate, attack the basket, and shoot from beyond the arc. Those are skills that will serve them well regardless of what guard position they are playing.
