Stanford MBB gets huge commitment from 2026 4-star PG Isaiah “Slim” Rogers

On the last day of July, Stanford men’s basketball picked up a commitment from 2026 4-star point guard Isaiah “Slim” Rogers, out of Centennial High School in Corona, CA. Rogers joins 3-star combo guard Myles Jones as the second commit for the Cardinal in the 2026 class. Jones committed back in September of last year.

Listed at 6’2”, 170 pounds, Rogers has a smooth form on his shot with a quick release. He is capable of lighting teams up from beyond the arc and catching fire. He is good at making threes both off the dribble and in catch and shoot situations. On top of that, due to his great ball handling and quickness, Rogers can get in the lane to finish around the rim and push the ball in transition as well as facilitate and create easy scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Just in terms of his style and overall look, Rogers plays a lot like Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. They’re both slim point guards that can make teams pay with their shots from beyond the arc as well as their ability to get in the lane to create for others and finish. Young is actually even slimmer, listed at 6’1”, 164 pounds. Given how much pride he takes in his “Slim” nickname, I doubt we’ll see Rogers bulk up too much, but if he could add another 10 pounds of muscle, that would be great for him. Just because that extra muscle in theory would translate to more strength and an ability to handle the pounding at the next level.
One thing that will be interesting to see is how Rogers and Jones co-exist in the backcourt when they arrive on campus. They’re both capable of playing point guard as well as shooting guard. That kind of versatility is nice to have in a backcourt. I suspect when they’re on the floor together, Rogers will handle more of the point guard duties, but when either one is off the floor, they should have no problem playing point guard. And then they’ll also have a sophomore point guard in Ebuka Okorie as well. So there will be plenty of options for head coach Kyle Smith to roll with at point guard.
All around, Isaiah Rogers is a huge commitment for Stanford. He gives them another option at point guard and on paper he projects to be the starting point guard of the future while also having the ability to play off the ball if needed. It should be fun to see what he brings to Stanford and how he develops under the coaching of Kyle Smith.
