Swinney counted 27 scholarship guys total who won’t be available.

Three big losses: Antonio Williams, Wade Woodaz and Collin Sadler

He said Woodaz and Sadler were injured against South Carolina. Said Sadler could barely play.

He was asked about the opt-outs and transfers, notably Peter Woods, T.J. Parker, Avieon Terrell and DeMonte Capehart and Khalil Barnes (transfer).

He wasn’t interested in talking about the conversations that came before those announcements.

He did say Barnes certainly ranks as one of the few transfers in recent years that he really wishes he’d have been able to keep.

“We’re locked in. We’re not worried about who opted out. We’re focused on who opted in.”

— Swinney was asked about Christopher Vizzina’s limited experience to date, and possible plans to play him in the bowl game.

“We’re just trying to win the game. We’re trying to get an eighth win. Whatever we’ve got to do to win.”

— As we’ve reported, John Grass and a number of current staffers going with him to Samford will work through the bowl game.

“They’ll all finish. They’ll all leave on the 28th because they’ve got to get to work.”

He didn’t want to get into any specifics on the staffers who are going with Grass. He said those guys might want to make their own announcements, and they have to go through routine background checks and such before it’s official.

He did confirm that his son Drew will be an offensive assistant for Grass.
