West Virginia lands massive RB commitment in Amari Latimer
West Virginia has pulled another massive signing day shocker by reeling in the commitment of Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek four-star running back Amari Latimer.
Latimer, 6-foot-0, 200-pounds, had been committed to Wisconsin since June 28, but flipped his pledge to the Mountaineers despite other late interest from some of the top programs in the nation.
The news was first reported by Rivals.
Among the programs involved with Latimer include Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, South Carolina, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, TCU, Washington and a number of others scholarship offers.
Latimer is rated as the 205th best prospect in the 2026 class and one of the nation’s top running back prospects in the nation as the 12th best overall.
West Virginia jumped into the mix for Latimer initially in January of 2024 prior to the arrival of the current coaching staff but that pursuit only continued once they arrived.
The four-star running back finished his senior season rushing for 1745 yards and 33 touchdowns while averaging 10.3 yards per carry. He also hauled in 16 catches for 252 yards and 3 scores.
Latimer also set single-game records for touchdowns with 7, rushing yards with 287 and also is the career rushing leader at his school with 5,102 yards.
The Peach State product gives West Virginia a massive addition to the 2026 recruiting class and adds to an already stacked backfield in this cycle.
WVSports.com will have more with Latimer in the near future.
