Top Gun & Team 1 Elite Preview
Travel ball teams from all over the country will be descending upon the Kansas City Region this week to take part in two tournaments separated by less than 10 miles. The Top Gun Invitational run by Top Gun Events and the Team 1 Elite Club Invite will play host to some of the top talent from around the country over the course of the next five days. Softball America will once again be in attendance as we strive to cover the sport “On Every Field at Every Level.”
Shawnee, KS will play host to the Top Gun Invitational. The event is divided into two divisions (Maverick and Viper) across the 12u-18u age groups. 218 teams will compete utilizing a five-game pool play format which will determine seedings for the single elimination bracket play set to begin Saturday evening. Robb Behymer and Jeremy McDowell have spearheaded the event and cultivated its growth from infancy. Interesting to note, the Top Gun Events staff will sponsor four (4) scholarships for participants in the 18u Division based on “outstanding character, high school academics, and community involvement.” Applicants will receive $1000 for their accredited college or university for the upcoming academic year.

Backed by Ryan Taylor (Aces), Greg Dickel (Iowa Premier), and Jeremy Higdon (Fury Platinum), the Team 1 Elite Club Invitational is an invite-only event selecting the top program finishers from around the country. Teams will be guaranteed five pool play games prior to their single-elimination bracket. Two divisions will spread the talent from the 12u-18u age groups. The Champions Division limits participants to those finishing in the top 30 of the premier national tournaments from the previous year. The Elite Division will showcase talent from teams that compete in National Events in the “A” level, Gold and Premier tournaments. OnDeck will be hosting one of their select camps on Wednesday, June 11, across two sessions to kick off the competitive weekend.
