Five-star quarterback Julian Sayin committed to Alabama last November. Since then, Sayin has remained locked in with the Crimson Tide. The Carlsbad (Calif.) product visited Tuscaloosa twice in the spring, and will return to Bama on July 29.

Before making his way back to T-Town, Sayin will participate in the 2023 Elite 11 Finals. He’s ready to compete in the June 14-16 event, which will feature 12 of the top 20 quarterbacks in the 2024 class.

2023 Elite 11 Finals: Complete quarterback roster

“I’m excited,” Sayin said. “It should be a good time competing against the top quarterbacks in the nation. Just being around those guys and hanging out with them. I just want to go out there and have fun. Perform to the best of my ability.”

In the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings, Sayin checks in as the No. 2 quarterback. That is one spot behind Georgia commit Dylan Raiola, who will also be at the Elite 11 Finals..

So, what would it mean to Sayin if he becomes the top-ranked signal caller in his class?

“That would definitely be a great honor,” Sayin replied. “You know, it’s not all about that. It’s about development, but that would be a great honor. Just put my head down and keep working.”

Sayin, who is the No. 14 overall rising senior in the country, elaborated on his approach to fine-tuning his craft.

“It’s always a work-in-silence mindset,” Sayin said. “Some guys, it’s probably a grind for them to work out and do the things that they need to do. But I love doing it. I love playing ball. Whenever I go out there on the field, it’s just a good time for me.”

In his junior season, Sayin completed 163 out of 245 passes (66.5 percent) for 2,708 yards. The 6-foot-1.5, 190-pounder also had 27 touchdown passes to just four interceptions.

“I think my strong points are my accuracy and I’m able to make plays on the fly,” Sayin said. “I can improvise pretty well. Just being a good leader and having good decision-making. I’ve been working on being more of a leader this year and taking more of a leadership role.”

Julian Sayin is putting on his recruiting hat for Alabama

Switching gears to his commitment to Alabama, Sayin is a part of a class that is currently No. 3 in the 2024 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

Sayin has his sights set on adding more talent to this group, including the No. 4 overall recruit in the nation.

5-star Alabama commit Julian Sayin is recruiting some priority targets to Tuscaloosa

“I talked with Coach [Tommy] Rees and Coach [Holmon] Wiggins about this: We really want Micah Hudson. He’s a really good player,” Sayin said. “A kid out of California I’ve been messaging is Davon Mitchell. He’s really good. I also reach out to guys like Aeryn Hampton… Coach [Joe] Cox has been telling me a couple of guys he wants: Caleb Odom from Carrollton and, of course, Davon Mitchell.”

Another name mentioned by Sayin was fellow West Coast prospect Peyton Woodyard, who is currently committed to Georgia. His message to him has revolved around Woodyard getting the opportunity to be personally coached by Nick Saban himself.

Sayin detailed what his main pitch is to those considering the Crimson Tide.

“We have the best coach ever,” Sayin said. “We have the best players and we’re playing in the best conference. Why wouldn’t you want to come play here? You’re playing against elite players in practice every day and you’re playing against elite competition every week.”

Although they’ve yet to speak, Sayin shared what he would say to Dylan Stewart, the No. 1 player in the 2024 On300.

“At Alabama, they breed edges,” Sayin said. “I can’t name all the past d-linemen they’ve had, but you think of the most recent: Will Anderson. A top-three pick in the NFL Draft. It’s the place to be if you want to be an edge rusher and go make plays in the SEC.”

It’s all Bama for Sayin

Sayin committed to Alabama just over seven months ago. He’s solid in his pledge. Along with visiting his future school next month, Sayin currently has no plans to visit any other college besides Bama the rest of his recruitment.

For Sayin, it’s simple why he’s still locked in with the Tide.

“It’s everything about them,” Sayin said. “It’s the consistency. I love the staff there. They’ll really coach you hard. I want to be a part of that.”

One of Sayin’s spring visits to Alabama was for A-Day Game. There, he got to see some of the program’s true freshmen stand out and make a case to earn starting roles in the fall.

“I love to see it,” Sayin said. “The best player is going to play. They recruited elite guys, and they’re going to use them. You see Justice Haynes getting a lot of carries. I bet you Keon Keeley will get in the mix. I think the edge group they brought in with that class is ridiculous with [Yhonzae] Pierre, Keon Keeley, and Qua Russaw.”
