One of the most highly anticipated annual prep basketball games will be played on Tuesday night.

At the Toyota Center in Houston, 24 of the top basketball prospects in the 2024 class will put their talents on display in The McDonald’s All-American Game. The event, which began over 45 years ago, is set to tip off at 8:00 p.m. Central/9:00 p.m. Eastern, and will be broadcasted on ESPN.

Alabama fans will be intrigued by this matchup as two future Crimson Tide players will take the floor tonight. Those are Prolific Prep’s Aiden Sherrell and Derrion Reid, both of whom signed with Bama in November.

2024 McDonald’s All-American Game Roster Breakdown

Along with being teammates in their final season of high school and at the next level, the two will be on the same team during the All-American Game. Playing for the West, Sherrell will sport the No. 22, while Reid will be wearing No. 35.

Reid and Sherrell are a part of a three-player 2024 class for Alabama that is No. 4 in the recruiting rankings. Small forward Naas Cunningham (No. 51 overall in this recruiting cycle) also signed with the Tide last November.

How Alabama’s signees have looked in practice thus far

Sherrell is just three spots away from having had five-star status in the 2024 On3 Rankings. He checks in at No. 17 overall in the nation, and is also the third-ranked center in this class. The Michigan native is the No. 3 senior in the state of California.

During a game-like, closed-door scrimmage ahead of tonight’s game, Sherrell showcased why he is an elite prospect in this class. He was named by On3’s Jamie Shaw as the No. 5 overall performer at the scrimmage.

Aiden Sherrell has a notable physical presence with his size and length,” Shaw wrote. “Watching him move and play, his fluidity and ability to change directions make things very interesting. Sherrell did a good job switching ends here, being a defensive presence around the basket, then beating his man down the floor for a couple of easy baskets. Sherrell walls up well on defense and he battled around the rim to make his presence felt. The 6-foot-11 center also knocked down multiple pick-and-pop jump shots. The flashes are very intriguing as his high-end archetype is found across the highest levels of basketball.

“[He] has a lot of the tools you look for at the highest levels,” Shaw wrote the next day. “He knocked down some jump shots and showed fluidity changing directions on defense. There is a very intriguing upside.”

Shaw also had an opportunity to see Reid participate in practice ahead of the McDonald’s All-American Game. Reid recently returned to action after missing a couple of months with a knee injury.

Shaw wrote the following about Reid, who is the No. 11 overall player and third-ranked small forward in his class, per On3.

“Five-Star Plus+ SF Derrion Reid (Alabama) has a diverse game, able to dribble, defend, and create,” Shaw wrote. “He did a good job making consistent positive plays in this setting showing his length and passing ability.

“(His) versatility is key with him. From the small forward spot, he can defend multiple positions and create offense off the bounce. He has good length and he carries a natural feel for the game. He also always seems to be smiling.”

Both Sherrell and Reid are expected to officially arrive in Tuscaloosa this summer.
