TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — We are only hours away from watching the Alabama football team take the field in front of a full Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time since its 27-20 loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl back in January. With 14 spring practices in the books, the Crimson Tide offense will now have a face off against the Crimson Tide defense.

This is new head coach Kalen DeBoer‘s first spring game at Alabama. How things operate under his leadership will look a little different this year, too. Instead of the typical White (first-team offense, second-team defense) and Crimson (first-team defense, second-team offense), you’re going to see it strictly be the offense versus the defense.

“Format for the spring game will be an offense versus defense,” DeBoer said after Thursday’s practice. “We won’t have divided teams for a couple reasons. No. 1, I like to look at it as practice No. 15. We’ll see a lot of scrimmaging out there, but it’s a chance for us to get better.

“It’s a chance for us to take the next step. A chance for us to evaluate, as well. And so try to really get down to the bare bones of playing some football. It gives us a chance to really also celebrate what we’re doing and where we’re at and enjoy the moment with the fans.

“So excited to see a packed stadium there and looking forward to seeing everyone come and support our program.”

In order to get you ready for kickoff, we’ve collected all the pertinent information you’ll need for Saturday’s game, including TV info, how to listen and a brief history of the series. Obviously, Alabama will win, but will it be the offense or the defense that prevails? This will be the last and only chance for everyone to get a look before the Crimson Tide take the field against Western Kentucky on Aug. 31.

Key Offensive Players to Watch

Quarterbacks: DeBoer has been high on all of them this spring. In this new offense, you should see some fireworks on Saturday (as long as the offensive line can hold up). Which guy can generate the most buzz exiting the spring?

RB Justice Haynes/Jam Miller: How does this talented duo elevate the production at the position after the departures of Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams? Alabama fans have been excited to see these guys working in tandem, and Saturday will mark the first opportunity to see this thunder-and-thunder combination.

WR Germie Bernard: Same coach, different team. Is the Washington transfer ready to be Alabama’s No. 1 option in the passing game, or will someone else emerge as the go-to guy in this offense? Be sure to monitor what his usage looks like. Is he exclusively used outside? How often is he motion compared to Kendrick Law, others?

LT Elijah Pritchett: Will Kadyn Proctor be walking into a starting role this summer, or can Pritchett do enough to make things interesting on the blindside? Everyone will also be keeping an eye on the competition at right tackle (Wilkin Formby, Miles McVay), but Pritchett is a candidate to start on either side.

Key Defensive Players to Watch

Edge rushers: There are several competing for at Wolf. Can Quandarrius Robinson, Keanu Koht, Qua Russaw or anyone else do anything to seperate themselves in the competition? UA fans want to see how Jordan Renaud and Keon Keeley are progressing, too.

DB Red Morgan/Zabien Brown: These two freshmen defensive backs have been making waves all spring. Can they build on that and solidify a significant role for the fall? Alabama will probably add to its secondary this summer regardless, but Morgan and Brown are capable of making a Year 1 impact.

DL LT Overton: The Texas A&M transfer has been rotating a lot at Bandit with Jah-Marien Latham on the first-team defense. As a former five-star talent who’s only supposed to be a sophomore after reclassifying in high school, is he ready to become the next big-time DL talent in Tuscaloosa?

LB Justin Jefferson: We all know Deontae Lawson and Jihaad Campbell are two of the top off-ball linebackers in college football, but can Jefferson work his way into the mix somehow? He was excellent in last year’s spring game, but that didn’t translate to any meaningful playing time on defense.
