Alabama inside linebacker Ian Jackson has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Jackson, a redshirt sophomore, did not see any game action during the Crimson Tide’s 2023 season. The Prattville, Ala., native played in three games over his 3-year career at Alabama, with all three appearances coming in the 2022 campaign against Texas A&M, Tennessee and Mississippi State. Jackson also did not play in Alabama’s 2021 season as a true freshman.

The in-state inside linebacker was a 4-star recruit at Prattville and was rated as the nation’s No. 29 linebacker and 250th-best overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Jackson chose Alabama over Auburn, Miami and Tennessee.

The transfer portal’s 30-day window opened on Monday, Dec. 4, but players on teams that played in bowl games on New Year’s Day received an extended window from Jan. 2-6.
