Alabama outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. has won the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is presented annually to the top defensive play in college football. The news comes just one day after Anderson was awarded the Bronko Nagurski Award for a second straight season.

“Right now, I’m just enjoying the moment, enjoying all the awards shows,” Anderson said during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN. “Getting to spend time with my family has been one of my biggest priorities right now. I’m still working out with the team. I still have a conversation to have with Coach Saban. But right now, I’m just living in the moment and enjoying the whole process.”

The star pass rusher has participated in all 12 of Alabama’s regular season games this year. He’s managed to rack up 51 tackles, 17.0 tackles for loss, 10.0 sacks and a pick-six while playing 652 snaps. According to Pro Football Focus, Anderson also led the SEC in QB pressures with 59.

In addition to the Bednarik and Nagurski, Anderson was also named SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press and all the coaches around the conference. Sure, there wasn’t a top-5 Heisman finish this year, but the 6-foot-4, 243-pound linebacker is still bringing home some impressive hardware.

Plus, he’s expected to be a top-3 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, assuming he does choose to come out early.
