The On3 NIL Valuation, an ever-evolving list of the most valuable college and high school athletes ranked by their name, image and likeness earning potential, is finally here. Following the release on Jan. 7, 2022, we can now get a better understanding of where top members of Alabama’s athletic programs stand relative to other athletes and schools.

In order to adequately describe the new index, here’s a great summarization from Michigan team reporter Clayton Sayfie with On3’s The Wolverine:

The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The NIL valuation is comprised of a number of dynamic data points that focus on two primary factors — an athlete’s social media presence and their level of athletic performance.

A base valuation is generated from the number of followers on each social media platform an athlete has (Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok). Each platform is weighted differently based on the number of marketing dollars that brands and advertisers typically spend on each.

With a baseline established through their individual social platforms, an athlete may also receive various boosts or penalties based on the following factors: engagement, relative social media strength, college prestige, individual player rankings, position, game day performance, prestigious achievements, legacy, media or existing NIL deals.

As you could probably guess, the College Football NIL Rankings are littered with Alabama players, 10 to be exact. Five of them come on offense, with a certain prolific quarterback leading the way, while the other five players are on the defensive side of the football. Check it out.

1. QB Bryce Young

Total Followers: 231k

NIL Valuation: $1.8m

NIL 100 Ranking: 3

Overview: Bryce Young has been a star on both the high school and college levels. He was a five-star coming out of Mater Dei (Calif.) and ranked as the No. 1 overall player. In just his second season at Alabama, he won the Heisman Trophy and has led the Tide to the national championship game.

3. OLB Will Anderson

Twitter: 14k

Total Followers: 55k

NIL Valuation: $718k

NIL 100 Ranking: 8

Overview: Like a lot of Alabama players, Will Anderson isn’t focused on growing his own personal brand on social media — at least not yet. For now, his focus is on winning national title. Still, the star pass rusher is a marketable individual considering he’s one of the top defensive players in college football.

12. WR Jameson Williams

Twitter: 12.3k

Total Followers: 119k

NIL Valuation: $364k

NIL 100 Ranking: 21

Overview: Jameson Williams was a top-100 prospect when he went originally went to Ohio State in 2019, but he’s become a household name now that he’s in Tuscaloosa. His 1,507 receiving yards ranks third in school history behind DeVonta Smith (1,856) and Amari Cooper (1,727).

28. WR John Metchie

Twitter: N/A

Total Followers: 105k

NIL Valuation: $209k

NIL 100 Ranking: 41

Overview: John Metchie may be out for the season, but he’s still a top-30 college football player when it comes to potential NIL earnings. Prior to his knee injury in the SEC Championship Game, Metchie was closing in on 100 catches for the season to go with 1,142 yards and 8 touchdowns.

57. RB Brian Robinson

Tik Tok: N/A

Twitter: 19.4k

Total Followers: 59k

NIL Valuation: $137k

NIL 100 Ranking: 77

Overview: Brian Robinson should be the poster boy for sticking for Nick Saban’s process. After sitting behind multiple NFL running backs for three seasons, the Tuscaloosa native became a featured ball-carrier in 2021. Despite injuries, Robinson has already handled 280 touches (249 carries, 31 receptions) this season for 1,543 yards and 16 scores.

59. OL Evan Neal

Instagram: 19k

Tik Tok: N/A

Twitter: 9.7k

Total Followers: 29k

NIL Valuation: $134k

NIL 100 Ranking: 79

Overview: Who says offensive linemen can’t have suitable NIL value? Evan Neal is one of the nation’s top blockers and should hear his name called in the top 10 of the 2022 NFL Draft, should he choose to leave early. He’s played three positions at Alabama, including left guard, right tackle and, most recently, left tackle.

63. DB Jordan Battle

Instagram: 34k

Tik Tok: 10.1k

Twitter: 12.7k

Total Followers: 57k

NIL Valuation: $127k

NIL 100 Ranking: 86

Overview: Not only has Jordan Battle built a brand on Instagram and Twitter, he’s also one of the few Alabama players with a sizable following on Tik Tok with over 10k followers. The junior safety has gone from steady contributor to the Tide’s top player in the secondary.

75. CB Kool-Aid McKinstry

Instagram: 77k

Tik Tok: 26k

Twitter: 17.2k

Total Followers: 120k

NIL Valuation: $117k

NIL 100 Ranking: 99

Overview: Unsurprising that a player with a wicked-awesome name such as Kool-Aid McKinstry made the list. Like Battle, the former Pinson Valley (Ala.) two-sport star has built a following on Instagram, Tik Tok and Twitter. As he becomes more of a established player, the true freshman should climb this list.

79. LB Christian Harris

Instagram: 30k

Tik Tok: 32

Twitter: 11k

Total Followers: 41k

NIL Valuation: $115k

NIL 100 Ranking: N/A

Overview: Christian Harris doesn’t have the biggest name, but he’s a well-established player who has now started for three-straight seasons in Tuscaloosa. With at least one — and maybe more — game to go, Harris has 219 career tackles to go with 22.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and an interception.

89. LB Henry To’o To’o

Instagram: 29k

Tik Tok: N/A

Twitter: 17.6k

Total Followers: 46k

NIL Valuation: $111k

NIL 100 Ranking: N/A

Overview: Tennessee is a recognizable name, but Henry To’o To’o transferring to Alabama has taken his personal brand to a new level. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s already checked in with over 100 tackles. It’s possible he could return next season, but it wouldn’t be a shock to see him depart early for the NFL.
