Alabama defensive back Jake Pope has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Pope, a redshirt freshman, primarily played on special teams during his second season with the Crimson Tide. After redshirting in 2022, Pope played in 12 games either on special teams or as a backup safety, but he did not record any stats during his two twos at Alabama.

Pope was a 4-star recruit out of Buford, Ga. He was part of the Tide’s 2022 recruiting class and was rated as the nation’s No. 315 overall prospect and 31st-best safety, per the On3 Industry Rankings. Pope chose Alabama over Georgia, Notre Dame and North Carolina.

Pope is the third Alabama defensive back to enter the transfer portal in the last week, joining Kristian Story and Earl Little II, the latter of which committed to Florida State on Saturday.

The transfer portal’s 30-day window opened on Monday, Dec. 4, but players on teams that played in bowl games on New Year’s Day received an extended window from Jan. 2-6.
