The Los Angeles Rams are world champions after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl LVI. Do you know what that means? Well, it means former Alabama defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson has secured yet another championship ring to add to his already impressive collection. In fact, there are three more players who can now be added to the list of former Crimson Tide standouts to win a Super Bowl.

Outside linebacker Terrell Lewis is on the 53-man roster, but unfortunately, he was inactive on Sunday night. Plus, former long snapper Carson Tinker was on and off the Los Angeles practice squad for several games down the stretch. On the losing end was former Alabama offensive tackle Jonah Williams and defensive tackle Damion Square (practice squad) for the Bengals.

Of the two active Tide players, Robinson had the better performance. Williams played well, especially in the first half, but Robinson produced 6 tackles to go along with a tackle for loss, sack and QB hit. This is a guy who has been playing some of his best football down the stretch, and that all came to a head on Sunday night. He continued to be a strong presence against the run, but the sack was an unexpected bonus. He only had 7.0 career sacks in a six-year period coming into Sunday, after all.

Robinson was originally a second-round pick (No. 46 overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 2016 NFL Draft. He would go on to play in 58 games with 37 starts in a four-year period for the team that drafted him. Prior to the 2020 season, he signed a two-year deal with the Rams worth $17 million. Apparently, that was the correct choice.

In the regular season, the 26-year-old played 602 snaps. He also set career-highs in tackles (58) while tying a career-high in sacks (2.0). As previously mentioned, he took things to another level down the stretch. Over his last six games (four of which were in the playoffs), Robinson racked up 28 tackles to go with 3.0 sacks, 4 stuffs and a forced fumble. He didn’t record a single sack in his first 24 games with the team.

We’ll see if his recent success lands him a contract extension this offseason.
