AUBURN — Eric Singleton Jr. is working hard to be on the field when Auburn plays at Baylor on Friday night.

“I think he’s going to play. He’s not 100 percent, but getting better every day,” head coach Hugh Freeze said on Wednesday during the SEC teleconference.

“Hopefully with more treatment today, tomorrow and all through the day on Friday, he’ll be close to full speed. That’s our hope. He’s not quite there yet, but healthy enough to try and play.”

Singleton Jr. has been banged up for nearly two weeks. On August 14, Freeze said the Georgia Tech transfer suffered a “deep thigh bruise” and added, “Eric probably has the one that would take the longest to recover.”

More recently, Freeze said on Monday that Singleton Jr. was “close” to 100 percent and they would continue to monitor his health throughout the week.

During the media viewing window on Tuesday, Singleton Jr. was seen in a yellow non-contact jersey, but going through drills and route running exercises. Singleton Jr. was seen fielding kickoffs and punts.
